Leading East of England law firm, Birketts, with assistance from Austrian firm, Denkmair Hutterer Hüttner Waldl Rechtsanwälte GmbH, advised X-tention Limited on the acquisition of 75% of Cloud 21 Limited.

Cloud 21, based in Kent, is part of the CTOi group of companies working in the health, social care, education, public and technology sectors. Established in 2009, Cloud 21 specialises in health IT consultancy across the public and private health and social care sectors to develop digital strategies in the UK and internationally.

It has supported over 75 NHS organisations in developing digital transformation programmes including strategy, procurement and implementation. In 2019, Cloud 21 achieved renown by introducing award winning automation technology to the NHS.

X-tention provides a range of services including consulting, implementation and operational solutions to over 900 healthcare organisations across Europe, the USA and Asia. Boasting years of IT experience in the healthcare sector, X-tention has provided tailored software solutions for a range of healthcare facilities including nursing homes, hospitals and social facilities, including one of the largest hospital chains in Europe, Helios International.

X-tention is part of a wider group which has interests in eHealth providers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It is planned that the acquisition of Cloud 21 will further grow X-tention’s market position in the UK.

The Birketts’ team was led by Associate Heidi Jones, with assistance from Solicitor Tom Utting (Corporate) and Senior Associate John Kahn (Corporate Tax).

Heidi Jones of Birketts commented, “We are delighted to have been introduced to X-tention by Austrian lawyer/colleague Alois Hutterer, with whom we have worked in the past. It was a great pleasure for all of us at Birketts to deal with the X-tention team and with our Austrian legal colleague, Alois.”
