Industrial supply firm Lamberts celebrates diamond year

Norfolk-based Lamberts has celebrated 60 years in the supply of materials and workwear to heavy industry..

Founded by Henry Beare back in 1963, the independent family-run business supplies and distributes industrial equipment including pipes, valves and safety wear for clients such as Anglian Water, Bernard Matthews, Briar and Simpsons Malt.

In 1980, the company was passed down to Henry’s son Tim; Tim’s daughter Trina joined the company in 2006, and became MD in 2015. The firm, which has its headquarters in Whiffler Road, Norwich, has stood the test of time and ridden out multiple recessions, Covid-19, and Brexit with its family values leading the way.

Trina says, ““My grandad used to say: ‘staff, service, systems – get them right and you’ll do well’. He was 100% right. What a milestone to have reached!

“Every single one of our team has helped us get to where we are to date. Our team is our business and many of our employees have been with us for 20 years or more. Our customers, many of whom have also been with us 20 years plus, love having direct contact with our team and we aim to give a great personalised service. Both these factors have contributed to our success over the past 60 years. We look forward to what the next 60 years bring.”

Lamberts supplies trade services in both industrial and domestic markets, in sectors including factories (chemicals, food and drink and plastics) transportation, marine, construction and civil engineering, agriculture, utilities and heating & ventilation. The company is a leading supplier of Kee Klamp fittings, GF piping systems, Spirax Sarco steam and industrial fluid solutions and industrial lubricants and adhesives.

Joint MD Neill Ives joined Lamberts in 1990 as warehouse assistant and later became a sales representative. By 2012 he was sales manager and was appointed as commercial director in 2015. In 2021 he became joint MD alongside Trina. He added: “We truly value long-term relationships, both with our staff and with our customers. This, along with a commitment to quality, has led to us being the successful company we are today. We have the best team in Norwich…hands down.”

As part of its commitment to keeping costs low for customers, Lamberts belongs to the Regional Engineers Distributors Group (REDG), a UK consortium of independent family industrial pipeline and heavy industry distributors. REDG members have combined sales more than £100m, a stockholding capacity of over £16m and together employ over 850 staff.
