Local small businesses win prestigious business awards

The prestigious Federation of Small Business (FSB) Celebrating Small Business Awards were recently held at Newmarket Racecourse in Suffolk.

The small business winners were:

  • Micro Business of the Year – Chester & Cooke (Cambridgeshire)
  • Exporter of the Year – Cambridge Worldwide Academy (Cambridgeshire)
  • Larger Small Business of the Year – Cladspray Solutions Ltd (Norfolk)
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Woodworks Art Café CIC (Suffolk)
  • Business and Product Innovation – CeraPhi Energy (Norfolk)
  • Self Employed/Freelancer of the Year – DJV Boutique (Suffolk)
  • Service Excellence – Draganfly Motorcycles (Suffolk)
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year – William Mayes, Layrd Design (Cambridgeshire)
  • Family Business of the Year – Something To Look Forward To (Cambridgeshire)
  • Sustainability – KFE (Cambridgeshire)
  • Community Award – Something To Look Forward To (Cambridgeshire)
  • Start-up Business of the Year – Savage Macbeth (Hertfordshire)

As well as securing their place at the UK finals in Birmingham, each winner received £1,000 advertising spend from sponsor Reach Plc.

Around 200 East of England entrepreneurs and employees attended the awards which were hosted by MC and BBC Broadcaster, Dave Sharpe.

Also in attendance were Cambridge MP and Chair of the East of England All Party Parliamentary Group, Daniel Zeichner, and Nik Johnson, Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Candy Richards, FSB Development Manager for East Anglia, said “The standard of entries was exceptionally high this year, and I would like to congratulate all our finalists who have demonstrated their outstanding success as small business owners.

“The next step for our winners is representing the region at our UK finals in Birmingham, in May. I wish them all the very best of luck and they should feel immensely proud of their achievements.
