Norfolk-born shredding business surpasses £21.6m in turnover

Shred Station – the world’s largest independent shredding company – is celebrating 15 years in business with absolutely no intention of slowing down.

The company, based in Norwich, now has operations spread across the UK and also clinched a record-breaking year of sales. It’s a major achievement for the family firm, which started off with just one shredding vehicle in Norfolk. The company now boasts a fleet of over 100 vehicles and employs 170 members of staff.

Over 100 employees recently met up at the International War Museum in Duxford for a company celebration.

“It’s been an amazing 15 years,” says MD and founder Simon Franklin. “Seeing so much of our fleet and workforce in one place really was eye-opening, not just for me but for every member of the team.

“Norfolk remains at the heart of our business, and we have plans to grow our footprint in the local area in the near future.”

The company has much to celebrate:

A record-breaking year of sales surpassing £21.6 million in turnover in 2022.

Celebrating five years as a CarbonNeutral® certified company.

Planting 10,067 new trees in 2022 through staff fundraising and company activities.

Shred Station is also currently working to offset all historic emissions and will be the first shredding company in the UK to achieve lifetime carbon neutrality.

“After winning the Green Business of the Year award at the Norfolk Business Awards in 2021, our annual turnover has grown from around £16.6 million to c.£21.6 million in 2022.

For 2023 we’re projecting around £26 million. Growth has been huge, and our success proves that green businesses are the future” says Simon.
