Co-managing directors appointed for food firm

Place UK, an independent fruit farming and ingredients business based in Tunstead, Norfolk, has appointed new co-managing directors.

Linda Evans and Matt Smith took on their new roles in March, stepping up from Commercial Director and Finance Director, respectively.

As co-managing directors, Linda Evans will lead on commercial, people and culture, with Matt Smith overseeing finance, IT, and operations.

It is the first time the business has made these appointments in its 72-year history.

Matt said: “We have an exceptional team at Place UK, and I am delighted to take on this new role with Linda.

“We share the belief that our people are our most important asset, and we’re looking forward to empowering colleagues to continue delivering an exceptional range of products and services to our customers”.

Linda added: “I’m looking forward to jointly leading this ambitious family-founded business as it continues a high growth trajectory.”

Founded in 1954 by John Place, Place UK started out growing fruit for jam, yoghurt, ice cream, and dessert manufacturers.

Today, it is one of the UK’s leading growers and processors of high-quality, premium strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, and British-grown rhubarb.

An on-site processing and packing facility, including IQF (individual quick frozen) capabilities, supplies end-to-end ingredients solutions, including fruits, pulses, grains, rice, and beans to some of the biggest names in the UK food industry.
