Turn sustainability goals into measurable progress with Groundwork’s Sustainable Business Membership

A practical framework for stronger decision-making

Groundwork’s Sustainable Business Membership offers a simple framework to help organisations understand and improve their sustainability performance year on year. Whether starting out or building on existing progress, members gain expert support, practical tools and a network of like-minded businesses working towards a more sustainable future.

Each member begins with an independent annual sustainability assessment within the first three months. This highlights strengths, identifies achievable improvements, and forms a clear action plan and sustainability score to track and report progress.

Strengthening governance

A key focus of the Sustainable Business Membership is governance. Members are supported to embed sustainability into organisational policies, including travel, procurement, and social responsibility, ensuring it is built into decision-making.

Members also develop SMART action plans with measurable commitments, linked to nature recovery, biodiversity, and social value.

Ongoing support for continuous improvement

With ongoing access to sustainability experts, peer learning opportunities, and regular check-ins, the Sustainable Business Membership ensures continuous learning and improvements.

The scheme is delivered by environmental and community charity Groundwork East. As a charity, they reinvest every penny back into the local community, soby working with Groundwork East you know you’re helping to build a stronger, greener future.
